The tim kliphuis trio

Currently in its 18th year of touring, the multi-award-winning Tim Kliphuis Trio is one of the world’s top string groups, combining jaw-dropping virtuosity and mesmerizing improvisations with a beautifully varied repertoire sourced from classical, gypsy jazz and North-European folk music. With Scotsmen Nigel Clark (guitar) and Roy Percy (double bass), Kliphuis has travelled the world, performed for royalty and the United Nations, and collaborated with The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Cape Town Philharmonic at festivals such as Glasgow’s Celtic Connections, the Prince’s Canal Concert in Amsterdam and Starlight Classics on national TV in South Africa.

On tour this season is the Trio's masterful re-imagining of Modeste Mussorgsky's 1874 orchestral hit “Pictures at an Exhibition”. Original, fresh and dynamic, with 4 new compositions based on paintings by Van Gogh, Klimt, O’Keeffe and Hokusai, it touches on themes like the plight of the animals, a first kiss, the rising seas, and the excitement of 1930s New York.
